Retirement of the No.1 shirt
It's been mentioned by a number of people, and when I heard the news was one of my first opinions.
I've set up a group on facebook, see what kind of opinions it gets.

nice idea to show our respects, i also think one of the stands should be re-named to show our appreciation for everything he has done for this club

Re: Retirement of the No.1 shirt
I think both should be done, a stand renaming would mean we constantly remember him, where as a number retirement might go unnoticed by some in a few years time.
R.I.P Dale. We will never forget you.

Retiring the No.1 would be a suitable tribute to a gentleman and a great keeper.

Re: Retirement of the No.1 shirt
I'm going to go against the grain and say no to this. I think a stand should be named after him, I also can't imagine him wanting the shirt to be retired.
It seems too much of an Americanism in a very English sport, for an England C international. I know people might disagree but it's just my feeling, if more want it done then I would never protest.

I think maybe renaming the north stand, as he was from the north!?DiamondsR4ever wrote:nice idea to show our respects, i also think one of the stands should be re-named to show our appreciation for everything he has done for this club

Re: Retirement of the No.1 shirt
Maybe the club could also set up a memorial match, with current Diamonds facing Dalesformer team-mates. Just a thought, but i hope this may happen!
