I wouldn't use "thetrainline.com" for booking tickets - as they charge commission on tickets you can get the same price elsewhere.

You can get to Hayes from Hayes and Harlington station.

http://www.hyufc.net/directions.html

That station is in the London travelcard zones - http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/lon_con.pdf so you should be able to get a one-day travelcard from Wellingborough, Bedford or Northampton.

First Capital Connect do a Super Off Peak Travelcard from Bedford - that's £19.50 for adults - which is quite a lot cheaper than you'd pay from Wellingborough - you can get group discounts on that as well - but you have to travel on FCC not East Midlands trains.

Booked train tickets to Workington off of there from MK - Workington, £25. Shame it was called off, couldn't get a refund as they don't refund advanced tickets.

Group of 4 from Bedford to Hayes & Harlington works out at £14 each.

I did the same for the original Workington game - £13.50 each way looked to be a real bargain until they called it off ! I've sent them my tickets back to see if they will offer any kind of a refund given the bad weather, but I'm not holding out much hope.

We have arranged a coach for Hayes but, as usual, it is subject to sufficient bookings being received.

We probably need to make a decision on Wednesday so please book early if you are thinking of going.
