All Time Diamonds XI LB
As I start my new course tomorrow so don't know whether I'll have time to get this thread up and running I'm getting this vote going before the CB vote is over.
This was a tricky position for the committee to nominate for There is one outstanding candidate but this is a chance to remember who else has played well in that position. It's been tricky for us since we reached our peak and none of those seen since have been nominated it's also seen us with only three nominees, as usual click on the names for more info:
Paul Underwood joined Rushden and Diamonds in July 1997 from Enfield, he initially slotted into the left midfield spot but eventually moved to full back. He played 301 times for the Diamonds and would captain the club after replacing Ray Warburton. Not only would he achieve two promotions at Nene Park but he also went on to win the BBC's 'Cult Hero' award for the club as well as being the Diamonds Player of the Season in 2004. He was voted our 'All Time Diamond' on a previous incarnation of this board.
Dave Johnson was a member of the original RDFC side in 1992 having joined from Northampton. He went on to play 158 times for the club picking up the POTS award for the 1994-95 season. He left Nene Park for Gloucester Cty in 1995.
Nick Ashby joined the club in 1995 from local rivals K*ttering Town and made his debut against his former club. The son of manager Nick Ashby he established himself as one of the best defenders outside of the league. He went on to appear 75 times for the club before moving to Burton Albion in 1997. After a spell as player/manager of Wellingborough he was still playing in the 2008/9 season for Cogenhoe United.
This week was a difficult choice, the one outstanding candidate overshadows everybody else and I've disregarded Kenny Cramman from those mentioned because of him spending more time in the midfield (I'm told). In the current team Kurt Robinson's performances led him to being suggested alongside players like Gary Setchell and Peter Hawkins. I'd like to thank those who helped with this difficult choice.
Next up: Right Midfield.

You could have 140 years of no achievement, or twenty years of glorious victories, you decide.

Paul Underwood is the best player (IMO) that has ever played for the Diamonds. I think this vote will be the most for one player than any other position,
You're knocked out with who I am,
Look at you now, you're all in my hands.

No contest. And if you are doing RM next then I think that one will go similarly.

Don't be surprised to see Brady pick up a few votes right midfield.
This one however, 100% i reckon.

Where's Peter Hawkins? - one of the scorers in the 3-2 over wobblers, should make the list just ecause of this!

He was one of those on the shortlist, but Nick Ashby and Dave Johnson thoroughly deserve to be included over Hawkins in the final 3 selected.
