It was probably with no sell on clause though but that is good money.

Great News, the way it says "a deal worth more than 100k" maybe implies that there are add ons possibly the all important sell on fee!!

Before I bow down at the feet of Mr Fry and worship his Idol and call for a statue to be erected to his holyness I would like a bit more detail on the transfer and fee.

Firstly the Club was not exactly in a position of strength so the deal looks pretty remarkable on that basis so can we take it that to get a higher fee we had too forego the add ons and future sell on clause, also Mr Fry has tried before to buy us out of the Tomlin sell on clause, have we been forced to accept an offer of money now as part of this deal ?

Of couse it may be that Mr Fry values highly our Youth setup and is willing to bale us out so as it seems he gets first dabs at our talent.

True, although being optimistic, there aren't many (good) English Goalkeepers knocking around atm, so their price tag should begin to rise. Plus Joe is rumoured to have had Premier League clubs looking at him so £100k+ plus add ons is entirely possible. Remember, he's the youngest 1st choice keeper in the Conference (I think) and he's thriving.

He is the youngest 1st choice as far as I am aware, but not by that far.

Less than a year older than him are Seb Brown from AFC Wimbledon and Chris Maxwell from Wrexham. The pair are probably as good as Joe, though I wouldn't be able to judge their potential without seeing them a lot more (I actually didn't rate Maxwell the few times I've seen him, though he also is rumoured to have Prem scouts watching him).

I imagine that it is highly dependant on add ons, with the up front fee being something like the expected £50k

Fry is a tricky blighter, I would expect him to always be trying to get a good deal for their club and if necessary screwing over others, and as such something heavily structured to add ons will do that if we are in a precarious position. Paying up front now will guaruntee that he gets his man too, and if the add ons get activated later then they are justification of themselves.

That and maintaining a good relationship with the club will see us advertise to them the players we have coming up, this could turn into a feeder club style relationship. Who knows we might get some decent loan (or even permanent) players out of the bargain of keeping close links.

Reading that Peterborough Evening Telegraph reader's comments I didn't realize that the next great white hope for the goalie spot for England, Joe Lewis, is not that well regarded and is on the transfer list so a great opportunity for Joe Day has presented itself.
However, I hope the Posh goal-keeping coach can sort out Joe's desire to punch the ball at every opportunity. He's a big lad, and in my opinion, should be catching crosses more often.
