Pixel Ads

Post by AndyKirkup »

So the only person I've told so far about this is Formic, but I'm sorting out a Pixel Ads page which I hope will be ready to go live tomorrow.

I have 1,000,000 pixels to sell. How much should I charge per 10x10 square?

Currently I have it set to £5.00, but this would only raise £50,000 if I sold them all. On the other hand I am cautious of charging too much and putting people off.

Opinions please.

I think £5 could put people off tbh, £1 per pixel I'd suggest.

But great work in getting in made, if marketed properly it could be a decent money maker as its a different and sort of neat way of donating.

Edit: Hang on actually, I re-read your post, £5 per 10x10 square sounds reasonable to me.

I think this is a great idea, and one that need to be properly advertised to local people and local businesses.

If a local business wanted to buy a 'sqaure' you could use their logo across that square (or hopefully squares)

I'm thinking it's a fairly difficult time for all people with the current economy, so £5 per square i beleive is a reasonable ask.

If the 1m pixels get sold, just set up another page.........

Will there logo or picture appear in the area they brought? If so, could it be that all the pixels together show the rdfc badge or something when the whole picture is brought

For example:

Can't do that I'm afraid.

Yes that's how it works - the logo is automatically re-sized to the number of squares that they buy. The logo is hyperlinked to their website.

When this is up and running, I will have a chat with one of my directors and see if he would be willing to release some funding.

It has the added incentive compared to straight donating of advertising so it makes more sense for non-supporters of the club, a great idea.

Arrrgghhh - the free hosting I'm using isn't really up to the job.

Does anyone happen to have the ear of someone who could donate some proper hosting for me?
