Off Topic - 25-0?

FOOTBALL bosses have announced an investigation after a team needing 24 goals in their last game to win a league title triumphed 25-0.

The Sunday League clash saw reigning champion Corsham Centre thrash Maud Heath Sports to claim their fifth successive title, on goal difference.

Their opponents turned up with only eight players and had a further player sent off after 25 minutes.

It denied bitter rivals Biddestone Social, who have been runners-up in the Wiltshire league four times in five seasons.

Their player-secretary Jamie Lyons said: “I was at the match but left after a while as I could see what was happening. We deserved to win the league.”

A league spokesman said: “We need to establish what has happened and want to see it is all above board.”
Best story I've heard for a while.

The opposition didn't think that through. Start with 8 down to 7, they only needed another red or a player to get injured and not be able to carry on and the games abandoned with a score of 2-0 (I think) awarded.

A team lost 17-0 in my Sunday league this season, but they were just crap, and it was a bit early in the season to start any conspiracy theories;)

(Although thinking about it, the team that ended up winning the league did so on goal difference, largely thanks to that game - maybe I should start an investigation   )

The heaviest victory i've ever known personally, was a mate who played in for an N'ton side and they won 38-0 a few seasons back!

I watched a team once with only 9 players beat another side with a full squad 24-0
