What is the current state of play?

Post by Pressman »

So its Friday 27 May and we are no nearer to learning about the fate of our club or if a solution has been found! Indeed the lack of communication is both typical and deafening.

Rumours of a possible investor being shown round by Mr Calder last week might be true but have we got enough time for the due dilligance process to be finalised prior to learning our fate either at the Conf AGM or the various Winding Up orders? I would think not.

The fans have been brilliant but whatever the figure need to secure our short term future it was, sadly, always going to be a steep uphill battle and ultimately beyond us. But even if the target was reached where was the money going to come from to actually run the club next season?

That Mr Ladak seems to have been trying one desperate throw of the dice to move K*ttering to NP appears to be unmistakeable now but if this was the case what went wrong for the negotiations to break down with KC and throw Mr Ladak into such a panic? Rumours are circulating that K*ttering have one season to secure their conference status in view of rules about leased grounds. Was Marcus Law released from his contract to facilitate the appointment of JE as K*ttering Diamonds new manager based at NP? If so it has all misfired.

But that is now Ketterings problem and we must concentrate on our own desperate plight. Maybe the alleged break down in negotiations between Mr Ladak and KC might allow us to see the light at the end of the tunnel? Even if its is just for the short term?

Because if rumours coming out of the K*ttering camp are to be believed - and I do - KC and his well chronicled 'friend' maybe about to become knights in shining armour again and save us for a second time once KC returns from holiday. Lets hope so because this appears to be our one remaining hope of seeing Conf Prem football played at NP - at least until we might have to find another ground in 4 years time?

As one ex player told me yesterday there have been comments from within the game that we could be about to be bailed out just in time!

Maybe the above is just an old hacks blinkered view of the current situation but then again if it is true what a wonderful end to a nightmare scenario!

I reckon that Kett will end up playing at Corby Town's new ground

Fans of both R&D and Kett have said a resounding no to a merger - or ground share
Diamonds have no players - and no money
Kett have no manager - and no money
Corby have no money but a new ground

so the fit with Corby looks better, or at least will be a bargaining chip for them.

So where does that leave R&D.......................

Thanks for the, sort of, update Pressman. What a frustrating time this is for everyone who is hoping for the best and fearing the worst. I thought the nonsense spouted by the Beasants in the past was annoying but in the present situation total silence is far worse. Especially when you know all sorts of things must be going on behind the scenes with KC, IL and so on.

It's bloody torture..................

The first I've heard of rumours is from this post. Chris, you're sitting on something, spill the beans, otherwise don't keep feeding out things in dribs and drabs.

You ask plenty of questions but never put across your own ideas. The answer is nobody on this forum is in a position to tell you and those who might be would not come near it. I throw the above question back to you.

That Mr Ladak seems to have been trying one desperate throw of the dice to move K*ttering to NP appears to be unmistakeable now but if this was the case what went wrong for the negotiations to break down with KC and throw Mr Ladak into such a panic? See previous point(s). Spill the beans. It's more irritating to be told fragments rather than nothing at all.

I no nothing of who or why, but I can confirm Mr Calder was showing someone around the club this week (has been shown arounda few times), could have been a cleaner for all I know. But at least I can confirm the above.

He was but by the Beasants and since he was at the fans meeting, as an interested onlooker, I would hazard a guess that he's acting on behalf of KC.

Doesn't mean that Calder is acting on behalf of Beasant. And don't shout, it's considered rude.

I would also suggest that, if we get new owners, then it wouldn't surprise me if Gary Calder is re-instated as CEO although I don't think that JE would be happy if he's still our manager.

Not too sure what Mad Dog's beef is but the as the above post was a personal opinion and questions raised were not questions needing an answer!

Thanks Ron Manager for confirming what 3 other people had told me regarding a potential investor being shown round - my point there is that due dilligence would not be completed in time to save our fate me thinks? Oh and Mad Dog that was a personal opinion and not a question!

In terms of rumours I have contacts like everybody else. If I didn't I couldn't do my job as a journalist and I wouldn't be able to share MY OPINION on here or make considered comments on the radio.

So you won't be surprised to know MD that 99% of my K*ttering whispers come from .... er .....K*ttering contacts who don't post on this board!! Some very trusted people working in either press or close to the board circles hence you won't possibly have heard the rumours before.

Equally, when I interchange information with the likes of Justin - which I've just done - Gill Wignall - which I've just done - and a small band of trusted fans - which I've just done there is much information which is considered off the record and will never be passed into the public domain. However, from all that information I have been given it is possible to FORM AN OPINION and pass that on to this board. ITS AN OPINION MD not testing the water or trying to get information because nobody talks to me because people do and I am more confident now that we will be saved next week albeit not taking it for granted!

So my comments about moving from NP in 4 years is AN OPINION only!

Now after I've got that off my chest lets give you some facts.

First of all congratulations to Corky who got married yesterday - thats FACT MD not an opinion!

Contrary to RUMOUR, both Max Porter and Aarron O'Connor have not signed for other clubs yet - because MD JE has just told me!

JE would like to say hi to the fans and appreciates all the hard work they are doing to try and save the club. He has no job offers at the moment and is still hopeful that a miracle can be pulled to allow him to continue at NP next season.

JE has asked me to convey his opinion that he would prefer the Trust to provide him with some money rather than the youth set up because he says that PD has made it pay for itelf over the last two years.

In conclusion, I was hoping that my earlier post would maybe give a little chink of light at the end of the tunnel - please treat it as such because we need all the hope we can get!
