Firstly we had 'Rushden & Diamonds - A Footballing History' by Ian Addis and Mick Dean.
Secondly we had 'Ten of Diamonds - The Story of Rushden & Diamonds Football Club' by Tony Jones.
Is it now time to complete this? Like most, I expected the end of Rushden & Diamonds in its current form to be confirmed to some extent at tonight's meeting. I'd therefore had a few ideas rattling about through my head about if the end did happen.
As many will remember, I'd posed a thread on here for questions to ask Michael McElhatton for next seasons programme. I'd later been in contact with Andy Burgess and Justin Jackson and became confident I could do a 'Where are they now?' section in every home matchday programme for next season. The reality is, this is now not going to happen.
We've had 368 players in the 19 year history of Rushden & Diamonds. The formation of a Pheonix club will be the start of a new era. We need to reflect on the good times. Let's wrap it up. Together. I'm only 19, but along with working towards my dream to be a newspaper reporter for MY club - Rushden & Diamonds, I'd set sights on following Ian, Mick and Tony in writing a book that reflects on the club. What better time to do it than now?
Why don't I aim to interview 25. 50. Stuff it, maybe even 100 past players to give their views on the best memories of their time at Rushden & Diamonds. The Official Website at some point will disappear. Let's include a list of every fixture and result in our 19 years. Every league table. Every player that has played. Fans views on there favourite game in print. Not just on here. Why not even the players and fans to suggest their 'Diamond XI?
R&D maybe over, but AFCRDFC is only just beginning. Together we can make it work. I would love in 10 years, some kid wanting to go into a career of Sports Journalism wanting to have a similar dream like I had with R&D, but with the reformed club.
