The Exiles
The Exiles
Whilst I fully accept that Rushden & Diamonds are dead, my anger at the thought of Kettrin plying thier trade at OUR ground will probably never diminish. I will never accept that Nene Park is the home ground for Kettrin Town. It will always be our home ground and whilst the Phoenix club gets going I will cling to the hope that one day we can return. In a strange irony that see's Kettrin sponsored by an organisation supporting Palestine and a displaced people seeking a return to their spiritual homeland, Kettrin Town and Imran Laddak have become the Israel of English Football.
Wherever the phoenix club sets up home I would warmly welcome the singing of the 'Take me home, Nene Park by the river' and feel that this should become something of an anthem for all of us. I think we may also have to adopt a new nick-name, regardless of what the new club is called, I propose that we should name ourselves The Exiles.

Re: The Exiles
This is hypothetical but would we actually want to go back? IMO I feel that NP is already tainted and isn't the place I thought it was on April 25th. Plus I think there's a possibility that it would be gone before we could get back there, as well as the fact that KTFC have a 25-year lease on it that says they have to be the only team playing there.

Hmmm, for me it will always be our home, I am disgusted at the idea of them playing in OUR ground, the place that Max built for us, if there is a Phoenix club it would feel for me like being exiled from our rightful home.

You could have 140 years of no achievement, or twenty years of glorious victories, you decide.

I'm 50/50 here.
On the one hand, as WWODB says, the ground was built for US. It is our ground and will always hold a special place in my heart.
At the same time, it does seem to hemorrhage money at an alarming rate, and maybe we are better off without it.

I'd rather keep the Diamonds tbh. But I agree with what you're saying in your first point, its not right and while maybe the place has been tainted by them playing there but I'm still not sure I agree with people dismissing Nene park on this forum, after all the fantastic memories of a fantastic stadium and complex, as you say our 'spritual homeland' and I too hope that one day I'll be able to watch the Diamonds in some form there once again (Although I realise that realistically it'll probably never happen)ChorltonV wrote:Whilst I fully accept that Rushden & Diamonds are dead, my anger at the thought of Kettrin plying thier trade at OUR ground will probably never diminish. That's exactly the point I was trying to get across Olly. Far too many happy memories and pride in Nene Park for me to ever totally give up hope. I am a realist though and my hopes are slim at best so for now I shall support the Phoenix whenever and wherever it is reborn.Olly wrote: I'd rather keep the Diamonds tbh. Re: The Exiles
I do have great memories of NP, of course, but it feels tainted because it's not actually our's, it's KC's, it's K*ttering's. If we were able to get it back and own it (no chance, obviously) then I'd feel like it was our home again. As it is though, I'd feel like we were just lining a prick's pocket.
