23Match Preview – Northampton ON Chenecks
Next Fixture Edit
Next Match: Northampton ON Chenecks v AFC Rushden & Diamonds
Date: Monday 26th September 2011
Venue: Northampton School for Boys, Billing Road, Northampton, NN1 5RT
Kick Off: 7:45pm
Entry: TBC

Table topping AFC Rushden & Diamonds travel to Northampton ON Chenecks on Monday for what, on paper, looks like being their toughest game of the season thus far. Diamonds were originally scheduled to face ON Chenecks in their debut NSYL game, but due to a difficult pre-season the Northampton side were given permission to postpone their opening two league fixtures. As a result, they have only played two matches but have won both of them in style, with an 8-1 victory over bottom side Olney Town and, probably even more impressively, a 6-1 win against a decent Woodford United side. With the home team’s free-scoring attack coming up against an excellent Rushden defence, who have conceded just one goal in their opening five games, the match looks like being a case of the unstoppable force versus the immovable object.

ON Chenecks play in white shirts, so AFC R&D will wear their new yellow and black away kit for the first time in a competitive game. Replica shirts, both home and away, are available for purchase; details HERE.

Although the senior ON Chenecks sides play at the Old Northamptonians Sports Ground, the U18s side are currently playing on the astroturf pitch at nearby Northampton School for Boys. Directions from Kiln Park to Northampton School for Boys/Old Northamptonians Sports Ground can be found HERE. These can easily be altered for your home address, simply by entering the relevant postcode in place of the existing one.

ON Chenecks have asked that all supporters park in the Sports Ground car park, as the limited parking at the School is reserved for players and officials only.
Access to the astroturf pitch is via the green gate to the right hand side of the School, near the pedestrian crossing (NOT the entrance to St. Andrews Hospital). Supporters are asked to view the game from the left hand side of the pitch, and refreshments are available from the nearby cricket pavilion.

It might be worth those attending having a look at Google Maps / Street View beforehand

I assume the green gate is the one seen 20yds up the access road in this view

It looks like the Astro-turf pitch is the dark green pitch on this view

Perhaps the parking area is at the top of the second picture, on the other side of Billing Rd, where the Sports Ground appears to be.

I'm not too sure where the parking area would be.
I presume parking is in the O.N.'s sports ground on the opposite side of Billing Road ( top centre on the map), but that is likely to be limited in number of spaces.

I think I'd just spotted that as you were posting those details, but thanks for the confirmation of where that might be.

It might prove a different challenge for our lads playing on an artificial pitch this evening - although many such pitches are far better than the ones the likes of Luton used to play on.
