Chester losers
after Chesters cancelled game Tuesday, and the issue with their next game being cancelled due to unpaid policing fees, I've listed below the losers pointwise, for the teams around us:-
Stevenage - 6
Oxford - 3
York - 3
Diamonds - 3
Luton 2
Mansfield - 6
Wimbledon - 0
Scum - 0
Kiddy - 3
The revised table would be :-
Oxford p27 points 57
Stevenage p29 points 57
York p28 points 56
Luton p27 points 50
R&D p28 points 49
Wombles p28 points 49
Scum p29 points 48
Mansfield p29 points 44
Kiddy p28 points 41
so the losers would be Stevenage and mansfield, while the gainers would be Wombles and Scum!!!
Its looking more and more likely they won't finish the season!

Re: Chester losers
I can't think of one.. but there must be a fairer way of doing it? I'd be livid if I was a Mansfield or Stevenage fan  They've beat them fair and square, as we have. If Chester go bust, through no fault of our own, AFC Wimbledon and Luton have go a massive unfair advantage on us :S

A fairer way would be to let results stand for all games played and at the end of the season work out the League positions based on average points gained per match played.
This would mean that Luton, Mansfield and Stevenage would play 46 games, Ourselves, Oxford, Wimbledon and York play 45 games and K*ttering only 44, but would more accurately reflect the performances of teams in all matches played.
I can't see it happening though.

Re: Chester losers
Sounds like a pretty fair idea rushdenman, but I think the downfall of the idea would be that K*ttering would complain that they'd missed out on an easy chance to boost their average points (by beating Chester). Which, in fairness, would be understandable.
Diamond down South.
Re: Chester losers
I understand that making Chesters' matches void is the only likely outcome if they do go pop. But what happens to all other stats relating to those fixtures as the knock on effects can mean more than 3 points lost or gained. What if your star striker broke his leg against Chester and missed half the sason, what if your key central defensive rock picked up his tenth yellow card against them and subsequently missed the following weeks top of the table clash which you go on to lose? It's a f*** up from start to finish and maybe with hindsight Chester should never have started the season in the first place.

Re: Chester losers
Maybe? Definitely in my opinion, it was clear they were going to be a basket case of a team as the summer wore on (especially after the points deduction) and everyone knew it wasn't fair on their fans. The only good thing that's come out of this farce is that Chester Fans United have a good chance at gaining the Deva Stadium and starting up a phoenix club.ChorltonV wrote:I understand that making Chesters' matches void is the only likely outcome if they do go pop. Re: Chester losers
Assuming they do expel Chester next Friday, the only fair way is to expunge the record, which means that nobody gains any points from Chester games (although I accept Luton and AFC Dons would do proportionally better).
There was almost a similar situation last season when Weymouth got into difficulties - and we benefitted from that situation, with our only away win in the last 5 months of the season being against their youth team, so we can't complain too much.
The Conference were put in an impossible position at the start of the season, with their arm twisted by the Football League to accept Chester against their wishes - after they'd taken decisive action against Boston the previous season. The threat of losing the automatic promotion to the league was too serious to ignore. Ironically this then meant they were fined by the FA.
Mind you, the Conference Board don't do themselves any favours by taking so long to produce this afternoon's announcement - http://www.footballconference.co.uk/new ... ment_.html - when it was fairly obvious that was the next step in a defined process. I am assuming the 7-day right of appeal is part of that process.

Should just let all previous results stand and give 3 points to the team supposed to be playing them in the future. Every team has played them once already if I'm not mistaken.

How is it fair to give a free 3 points to teams when others have had to earn them?DiamondsFan wrote:Should just let all previous results stand and give 3 points to the team supposed to be playing them in the future. Every team has played them once already if I'm not mistaken.
