13th February.......

Post by Pigman »

........not a bad day for us results wise. Here is a list of games played on, or nearest date to, the 13th February to show our form on this day. It means nothing, but it keeps me from the housework for a few minutes more and makes some use of me drooling over the old programmes for the last 2 hours or so......plus I've got a fresh cuppa to consume ........knock yoursleves out stato lovers :D

1993 away, Yate Town won 0-3
1994 away, Evesham Utd won 1-4 (only my second ever
1995 away, Atherstone Utd won 1-7
1996 away, Baldock Town won 0-3
1997 away, Macclesfield Town lost 1-2
1998 away, Gateshead lost 1-2
1999 away, Kidderminster Harriers drew 0-0
2000 home, FGR won 3-2 (3195 saw this !!!!!!!)
2001 away, FGR drew 0-0
2002 away Hull City (how times change eh?) lost 2-1
2003 away, Darlington drew 2-2
2004 away, Chesterfield lost 2-0
2005 home, Wycombe lost 1-2
2006 home, Notts County won 1-0
2007 away, Dagenham and Redbridge won 2-1 (I got VERY drunk at this match !!)
2008 home, Altrincham won 1-0
2009 away, Burton Albion lost 3-0
2010 home, Stevenage Borough ????????????

Of the 17 games played on or nearest to this date we have won 8, drawn 3 and lost 6. Amazingly we have only played at home 4 times on this date, winning 3 and losing just the once, scoring 6 and conceding 4 in these games, so traditionally not a high scoring day. Overall we've scored 30 goals and let in 18 - on that basis we should win about 2-1 tomorrow .................oh if eh?

06 wasn't Notts Co. It was away at Wrexham, where we lost 2-0 thanks to the on loan striker Matt Derbyshire (well that and our inability up front).

Dagenham away was a belter that year, wasn't that game just the week after we had beaten Oxford on Sky aswell? Beating 1st and 2nd in the league away from home i think? Jackson scored a absolute screamer if i remember rightly and Chrissy Hopes wasnt too bad either. ;)

Ooops, eyes went to the nearest Saturday which was Notts County (11th).

I remember that Wrexham match and Matt Derbyshire, on loan from Blackurn Rovers wasn't he? I was one of the 100 or supporters that made the trek that Tuesday night, he looked class that night - certainly a class above anyone else on the field, his pace was electrifying !!

2000... FGR 3-2.

Without recourse to Wiki, or a host of old programmes, but I think that was the game during which we had a bucket collection for Martin Aldridge's family which raised £1400.

IIRC, Darren Collins came off the bench after half-time to score two goals to take it from 1-2 to 3-2: not that I saw it, because I was under the stand near the scoreboard counting £1400, mostly in coin!

It was indeed the day Darren scored a brace to win us the match, Michael McElhatton scored the other goal. I'd forgotten about the Aldridge collection............a sad time indeed !!
