Under-18s

Post by pitchero »

I remember seeing many sceptical faces at the Pemberton Centre last July when it was agreed to enter a side in the NSYL.
I presume many had never seen an u18 game - certainly not one in the NSYL - and a few members have still prefered to await the start of the new senior side in 2012/13 before watching AFC in action.
However, I desperately hope that everyone doesn`t abandon the u18s next season.
I appreciate we won`t get the splendid numbers we`ve had this season, but it would be nice to play in front of a decent crowd, especially after all the effort the lads have put in this season.
The lads were truly inspired by the magnificent cup final crowd - they could have froze in the atmosphere and occasion - but instead produced the best performance of the season.
At least 5 players had their best game in an AFC shirt - and that`s not an easy thing to do in a cup final.
Please maintain your support of the u18s next season - with the squad we have, I`m sure it will prove to be well worthwhile.

i think most people who have gone this season probably did so as it was all we had, but blimey!, personally i have been amazed at the standard of football. I for one will be following the under 18's again next season.

I'll definitely get to games when I'm able to and in the area. Been very enjoyable this season.

Totally agree, and I have stated that I will still watch the U18's next season here http://www.thediamondsforum.co.uk/viewt ... f=2&t=4650

i've never been a youth team watcher and this season has been my first exposure to youth football. i've been to all the home matches and 3 aways and whilst enjoying being a part of the growth of our club, i've missed proper mens football. it's just totally different.
i went to see the veterans final last sunday at hayden road and thoroughly enjoyed that.
whilst i can't wait for our senior side to start playing on a sat, i doubt i'll go to another youth fixture.

I'll get to as many as I can next season as well, they deserve our support for the pleasure they've given us this year and, don't forget, they are our future !!!!

There will be games from U7 to U18 to watch this year on Saturday mornings, Sunday mornings, Sunday afternoon and midweek.

A fine excuse to escape the shopping as you tell Scary Wife "I'm off out to watch Diamonds, be back Tuesday"
