Volunteering Opportunities

Post by Pigman »

Hi all,

I spoke about this at the Members Forum last week but thought I'd post up the call for volunteers here as well, I know this Board is read by non-members who would not have been at that meeting (and by members unable to attend as well).

The progress we've made as a football club in the past few months is fantastic and I know any of you share the pride I have for where we are now, and the thanks for that goes to a lot of people who have volunteered their time and worked tirelessly. But the future progression of our club depends upon people getting involved, we're a true community club with limited resources and we're appealing for help.

We're looking for more people to step up and get involved over the coming weeks with helping us to undertake some ground improvement work to the Dog and Duck - we're keen to complete certain tasks that will help to improve the matchday experience for our fans next season.

We're looking for general volunteers who can help with cleaning, painting, general ground maintenance etc, we're also looking for people with particular trades, such as carpenters, electricians, plumbers, experienced labourers etc. CAN YOU HELP? Many hand make light work :D

We haven't finalised our plans as yet, so for now we're looking for pledges of support, but if you email your name and contact details to jim@afcdiamonds.com then we can go ahead and plan the work - we'll then be in touch as and when we need people.

We're also looking for people to fulfil partucular roles within the club, these are:

• Someone to manage the Bar Areas
• Someone to takeover managing AFCRDTV
• Payroll Administrators
• Referees Assistants

Again, email jim@afcdiamonds.com and I'll pass your interest on to the right person within the club who can give you the lowdown on what is required.

Finally, we have a number of different work groups set up and are always on the lookout for new people to help out, these are:

• Commercial and Marketing Group
• Gound Maintenance Group
• Membership and Junior Diamonds
• Fundraising Group
• Youth Football
• Stewarding and Matchday Group

If you're interested in any of these please email your name and contact details, along with the area you're interested in, to jim@afcdiamonds.com and again, I'll pass your interest to the right person.

It doesn't have to be a lot of your time and I speak from experience when I say once you start to get involved you'll get a great sense of pride and satisfaction - you'll have some fun as well. I know how easy it is to say "I'm too busy, I can't spare the time" and we recognise that we all have busy lives and limited time to offer. But please, think about how you can help and get in touch.

Next season is going to be exciting - be part of it !! Thanks for "listening" :D

Bump !

Thank you to the few people who have emailed me, hopefully you've all received an email from me and I'll be in touch once we've scheduled in some of the work we need to do - but we need more people !! We especially need a carpenter and a qualified electrician for a couple of specific jobs - anyone able to help??? Please email me - jim@afcdiamonds.com

As I've said - the future progress of the club depends upon us all working together - please help if you can. Thank you.

Well, this club's Board certainly isn't afraid to ask and most definately isn't exclusive - we're ALL part of the team and once we get organised to do some of the work we'll be both getting in touch with the fans who have already volunteered and we'll also be asking for more people to do so. :D

Lots of people doing little bits is the dream, as opposed to a few doing lots, which is what we have at the moment.

I can tell you this, once you start to volunteer and get involved you'll take the club really to heart, you'll enjoy it and appreciate things far more.

Anyone having read that article who feels like they want to get involved knows where to come - jim@afcdiamonds.com :D

I'd love to volunteer but for the next couple of years I'm pretty much tied up with stuff at home full time, as I work away from home all week.
You're knocked out with who I am,
Look at you now, you're all in my hands.

What! I even had a cloth and polish set aside, so you could come and do the seats ;-)

On a slightly serious note, it doesn't matter how small a contribution anyone makes, it will be gratefully recieved.
In our case, you are not volunteering to save an owner money, you are volunteering to save yourselves money, you own the club, so every little thing you do, helps everyone indirectly.

I know it's a completely different concept to what we were used to at NP, but our way is the future 8-)

Not so easy anymore fella. My job has changed so much in the last 18 months, I go to work some Sunday evenings and don't see home until Friday night, sometimes even Saturday morning. Which leaves me sod all time to sort my house out which was almost derelict when I bought it.

No worries, as Jim already said anything anyone can do is a help, with whatever fits in with people's lives., along with support of the club as a member, or letting people know about the club, it's all good stuff.

Support comes in lots of different ways Lee and you've shown yours already, don't feel bad mate, people can only give what time they can - just make sure you buy a proper/finished house next time eh? ;) :D
