Get Latest AFCR&D Match Status
A quick place to go to check status of upcoming games. We hope to make this a one-stop place to get simple info on match status, which will of course be supplemented across the other normal channels - such as Email Updates (for members/subscribers)/Forum and more detailed Official Web Site Updates.
http://afcdiamonds.com/status
A quick, easy to remember/short URL as a first place to check.
Just add as a bookmark on your phone/browser etc..
Of course we also have the Twitter Feed, which also contains "live" updates of breaking info, news, scores etc..
http://twitter.com/afcrd
Main "live" Official Twitter feed.
We're also looking at other ways to be able to quickly broadcast status info to fans, and hope to have more on that in the not too distant future. As always please feel to drop us suggestions for improvements.

Re: Get Latest AFCR&D Match Status
Great idea. Presumably this will work for away games too?
I see on Twitter that a lot of people turned up to the game yesterday. 99% of people use the internet now, I don't want to be rude but with all the rain you'd have thought it common sense to at least check.

Yes we''ll try to have status for the next game coming up for exactly that reason, be it home or away. Just so fans know they can go to one place for official status at a glance (even if we do already put it in a few other places).BartonRaz wrote:Great idea. As you say we did have a Twitter feed, and had that all last season. We'll just make some posters to give this more visibility so people are aware of this, as we known not everyone checks the forums of course. Not sure it's 99% (at least amongst our fanbase - but it's probably > 90% I'd think).
We're also looking at a few other ways to notify the membership at least as well, and will be testing things soon.
And also to better inform anybody that does happen to turn up (we can't get hold of everybody, and we are at the mercy of pitches/weather a lot).
Re: Get Latest AFCR&D Match Status
It's not always that easy to assume people will be able check online though, even if they are relatively well-connected. Sometimes people are out of the house in the morning before heading to the game. I'm sure we've all suffered travelling to games only to find them called off - Macclesfield, Salisbury and Leatherhead spring to mind for rained off games where I've had a wasted trip. Remember this was a joint fixture, so WTFC might also have been expected to get involved.
Once the office is up and running perhaps the club will have a dedicated phone number with the possibility of a recorded message about match status.

How about this idea ? Ask people to give their mobile phone numbers to a (secure) club database then send text messages ? There are systems out there that can send a single message to multiple numbers.

I receive e'mails pushed from my mail account direct to my phone as it lets me pick up photography work etc when the computer is at home.
A lot of people could be contacted via this system if they have this option to enable it on their phones.
The club then just needs your e'mail address on a database, member or non member. You could even have members/volunteers who have a group of supporters (non internet users) mobile numbers as a group listing on their phone and then one text lets all know .

Re: Get Latest AFCR&D Match Status
Thanks Formic, we realise that not everyone is able to be connected "online", and are already working on that. We plan to have a voice line (virtual mailbox really) which would also have status messages on it, and that number would also be published clearly as an option. As that wasn't yet ready I didn't want to pre-empt and mention that, but we're already conscious that are fans connect in many different ways, and are trying to cover all the bases as much as we can.Formic wrote:It's not always that easy to assume people will be able check online though, even if they are relatively well-connected. Re: Get Latest AFCR&D Match Status
This is what is in testing, and we had actually planned to implement this last year, but I ran out of time. We expect it to be an option for members, or for other people to register/opt in to an alert service using SMS (SMS also works to landlines, and you get a text to voice message).Three of Diamonds wrote:How about this idea ?
