Re: Buckingham Town
If anyone can see any smoke going past their window it will be from the burning of the FA Ground Grading Regulations and the related UCL rulebook.

Let's hope the upgrades required have a strict deadline of 18th August 2012 - but I can't see how they can get the work done in time - http://www.buckinghamtoday.co.uk/sport/ ... -1-4125788

Are those things on the top for show or do you think there was a roof on it?

Re: Buckingham Town
Believe it or not, there is a bit of roof left - the guy standing near the corner flag has a few slats above his head - although whether they would shelter him, or just make the rain stream down on him through the gaps isn't clear. There was a small stand opposite that was also lacking a roof (although it too had the roof struts), and there didn't seem to be a paved walkway to reach it. None of the facilities were inside the ground - e.g. the toilets were in the nearby Irish Club - the landlords. This terrace was cordoned off about two thirds along its length as it was crumbling away.Sara Pascoe wrote::lol:Formic wrote:If anyone can see any smoke going past their window it will be from the burning of the FA Ground Grading Regulations and the related UCL rulebook.

At least it's really close to Fenny Stratford railway station, which is good for any fans around Bedford/me coming from Coventry. Much easier than buses.

Re: Buckingham Town
The main stand still has no roof, but is there a requirement in the regs, probably not.

Re: Buckingham Town
From FA Ground Grading G - Appropriate to step 6 of the NLS:
2.1 Spectator Accommodation
Development, other than hard standing, may all be on one side of the ground.
Covered accommodation, which should preferably be on 2 sides of the ground, must be of sound construction of timber/steel/brick/concrete or any combination of these materials. Existing timber stands are only acceptable subject to a fire risk assessment conducted by a competent person.
The minimum covered accommodation must be 100, of which at least 50 must be seated and located in one stand. Whilst individual seats are preferred, bench seating may be permitted provided that it is in good repair and that individual spaces (min 500mm) are clearly marked.
The 50 seats must afford a good view of the pitch and be clean, functional and in good condition.
Separate seating for Directors/Committee and guests is not compulsory for this grade.
In my personal opinion however, the FA shouldn't be kicking teams out of the league if at all possible. If you applied the letter of the ground grading regs to the UCL then a fair few clubs would be in trouble. Each case has its own intricacies due to the history of the clubs involved, the shared usage of the facilities (e.g. with cricket) and the availability of money and/or funding and hence there are several grounds in the league that don't meet these regulations.
On the other hand - where clubs spend money on players 'expenses' but don't complete the required works on their ground this is probably a little unfair, however I'm not sure what can practically be done about this - I suspect nothing.
Despite the lack of facilities at Buckingham (a club who have had a bit of a rough ride so I'm told), you still have to say that the league is better off with them in rather than not having them and for me that's the bottom line.

At least they will make a few bob when we visit, a lot of clubs will be glad of our fans putting a few bob in their coffers
