Volunteering
Re: Volunteering
We really do need your help folks!
I'm not alone but my AFC day started at 8am yesterday and finished at 8pm during which I paid £5 to watch a total of 20 minutes football. Even 1 extra pair of hands would have made a huge difference. Our days of turning up, watching the match and going home are long gone and we all need to step up and do something to help out.
Please don't think that 'someone's already doing it' because the reality is that they're not.
We need help on all levels - stewarding, catering, clearing up - the list is endless. PM me, email me, phone me, text me or accost me in the street, we will find something for you to do.
It's our club, let's do this together.

Re: Volunteering
Come on guys and gals there are some people, like Stacey, spending an inordinate amount on time on a Saturday to improve the quality of your match day experience. It's your Club after all!
Re: Volunteering
why does everyone see this as a chore ? in a strange way its quite fun,,,,and i feel proud at the end of the day when weve helped out,,,,,,i know some of the lads where down on thursday doing jobs(as i was passing d&d i got an sos from bob,,,,,do i have a spanner?,,,,i quite happily popped in ,,,,,then mark hedges and i went over to finedon for training,,,,,,,,
friday i went to work from six untill twelve thirty ,then went to the d&d to meet up with the chaps as we had arranged to do a few behind the scene jobs,,,,,,not moaning as i really think weve all enjoyed each others banter  we left at about 7 30 after putting the speakers up for you. Then for me saturday comes.....im a fan......got down to the ground about two thirty,,,,,,paid my fiver(im a season ticket holder as are the other board members) and went in..........as soon as i got through the gate i asked chas and jim if they needed anything.......i got chas a drink and jim needed change(correct monies would be appreciated  ) so i spent half hour running for change to ease their burden
,i then went off to watch the match, occasionally popping behind the peter ebdon stand to fetch a ball.....no hardship, then after the game ,along with other helpers we litter picked ,,took about 15 mins with a gang of us(again this could be helped if you put your rubbish in the bins ;) ) then jim ,bob and i picked the nets up so the rabbits dont chew them,,5 mins each ,then off to the changing rooms to clean them,,,,,,,,,we had to wait this time because the lads were going on the p*&s ,oops sorry ,into town for a drink ,and we had to wait for ainsley to do his hair
this took about 20 mins with 2 of us,,,if there was for of us it would take 10 mins ;) it really feels like a big family withe the players staff ,volunteers all haveing a laugh and a joke after the game.
I HAVE SAID ALL THIS.....NOT FOR A PAT ON THE BACK......AS I/WE ALL ENJOY DOING IT(AND AS STATED BEFORE,WE DO GET MOANED AT BY OUR OTHER HALVES   (ive taken to sneeking over....sshhh  ) SO A LITTLE HELP WOULD GET US BACK IN THEIR GOOD BOOKS
THATS ALL WE ASK THANKS

Re: Volunteering
Well said Duncan. I would also appeal to all fans not to throw rubbish down on the floor. That is laziness. Remember one of your fellow fans, like me, has to go round after the match and pick it up. Not moaning but if I spent less time on that I could volunteer for another more pleasant job! ;)

Re: Volunteering
That's right, I've done so much AFC & SRJFC stuff over the last two weeks that I was told that yesterday I WOULD be sitting next to Scary Wife for the match and WOULDN'T be doing anything else. Wasn't my choice I'd rather have been picking rubbish up!discodunk wrote:WE DO GET MOANED AT BY OUR OTHER HALVES   (ive taken to sneeking over....sshhh  ) SO A LITTLE HELP WOULD GET US BACK IN THEIR GOOD BOOKS![]()

Great post Dunk, and very true too, we do have fun with the jobs, but it would be so much quicker with several pairs of hands. To be fair most of the major work has been done, it's the match day duties that now take time and effort 8-)

If Pigman gave up managing Reading, he might have more time to volunteer!
