League Cup v Wellingborough

Post by Sid »

According to mitoo this is to be played on Saturday 3rd November  . Our OWS sayes we are at home to Sileby in what will surely be one of the most important matches of the first half of our season. League Cup matches do not take precidence over league games in the UCL or anywhere else, this must be wrong surely.

Well tomorrow is a seemingly low priority cup taking precedence over a league game so its possible. The fact its a UCL cup though involving teams with floodlights should mean there's no need to play the games at weekends, so I hope it is indeed wrong, but if it isn't then that really is ludicrous if we lose another Saturday home league game to a comp that isn't going to draw even half the crowds.

i haven't heard when the Wellingborough match will be fixtures, although i would have thought this fixture would bring in a decent crowd.

What's delaying the rearrangement of the Potton & Buckingham games? (Not having a pop, just wondered).
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

The whole process seems very different at this level. There is a weekly bulletin sent out by the UCL to clubs that has details of the latest changes, which they are advised to check.

That does seem strange. With the Dog & Duck presumably sitting empty on Tuesday night and ourselves, Sileby, Potton and Buckingham all gameless, we could have got one of those games played. Better to play them now surely than in the dead of winter when postponements are highly likely.

I don't think you'll get many arguments with that one - but the rule book states :

"8.6 Where a match has been postponed for ANY REASON, the Fixture Secretary shall determine the new date."

The odd thing is that although the rules allow a Vase or County Cup game to take precedence over a league game, there don't seem to be such a provision for a League Cup game.
