Alfie Taylor and Joe Merrill sign contracts...

Post by BartonRaz »

According to Twitter they've both signed contracts with us. Alfie's is until 2014.

Is this to prevent 7-day approaches?

Great news anyway.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

I always thought those two players would be the first players that we would put on contract otherwise we risked losing them to another club without any transfer fee. Wise move in my book.

I think there may be another couple that will follow.

Great news. Both players have more than proved themselves so far this season. a great statement of intent from both sides.

Paul, hopefully people will take us seriously now, we do not want to be a one hit wonder 8-) 8-)

Was a great night tonight, with an honest appraisal of the state of the club.
Well done Ralph on conducting the evening, despite having a sore throat 8-)

Brilliant news, the fact that players can move clubs so easily at this level does slightly concern me and with these 2 putting in such super performances, it would have been very frustrating if they had just left for a higher club out of the blue as players do at this level, so its great to have some security like this with arguably our 2 best players.

There were many reasons behind offering them contracts, but the security that a club can't just come in and sign them following a 7 day approach was certainly a significant factor.

Congrats to all concerned. This is great news, starting to turn into a good week for the club. 3pts on Saturday would back it up!

McBride, should be next on that list, IMO.
