Coventry City...

Post by BartonRaz »

I'm told it's being muted that they're potentially going to move to Nene Park, as they are unable to afford a 7-figure rent on the Ricoh Arena.

Expected to be back page of the Coventry Evening Telegraph in the next couple of days.

Interesting. Coventry have 6k ST holders.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

Crazy. I wonder what the diminishing Sky Blues faithful will make of that?

I suspect it is something being used as a threat to get there rent lowered at the Ricoh.

There's no chance. They lost a huge section of their fanbase when they moved to the Ricoh, claiming it was easy to get to and park - when it fact it was (and still is) hugely difficult to park anywhere near without paying silly prices due to protests from local residents. The old Highfield Road ground didn't need a huge car park - many people could walk to the ground, there was easy public transport access, and there also was easy street parking. The trend towards out of town grounds only satisfies the property developers who want to build on the existing sites -but the Ricoh is the worst of both worlds - not central, not truly out of town, and with none of the advantages of either.

Agree. I had a frustrating time trying to park when i went to the Olympic football and had to wait ages for the park and ride to take me back to the university parking!
