Our strongest starting X1

Post by sussexdiamond »

I think we would be hard pressed to name a stronger starting X1 than yesterday. And the subs bench was unbelievably strong. Also we have Hopey, Gilsenan, Allen, Smith and Peter Oke,

Will it be our squad strength that enables us to overtake Sileby and Oadby ?, with so many games still to be played.

Why are we going to play with only 1 player??
Or I am confused.

I agree that our subs bench was really strong against Wootton, Our visitors did not know how to handle fresh legs as we introduced Dent, King and Ellwood. We should have scored several goals in the latter stages of the match.

My only concern is, how do we keep the quality players on our bench? These players could walk into most UCL Premier teams, I am sure we will soon be losing one or two of our quality subs. I hope not

I think it's a case of the players on the bench waiting patiently for their chance and taking it when it comes, they will get it it, much like Ben Morgan did earlier in the season. We've got a lot of games coming up.

It has amazed my how many times players move at this level though and I am thankful that we have had a fairly settled squad with a few additions, people like Byrne at Sileby is on his third club this season!

I'd agree that the bench from Saturday would be starting XI for most other teams in this league and the one above. It does appear that they have all bought into what we are trying to build here and understand the role they play in achieving those ambitions.

From what I've seen we have no prima-donnas in the squad at all and they all understand that it is a squad game. It must be frustrating for some but with the number of games we have coming up they will all get a chance.

We could have more calls off still so may be faced with playing Sat-Tue-Sat for a good few weeks.
