Buckingham v Sileby
Of some interest tonight, it appears Sileby are 1-0 up after 20 minutes

Stop killing yourself, they're not going to drop points.

I live in hope, but I fear you're right. Not in the slightest bit surprised they won, I think we all expected it didn't we?Sara Pascoe wrote:Stop killing yourself, they're not going to drop points.
Its funny, I don't look at the 92nd minute goal we conceded vs Sileby as the problem - its the 2 points we dropped away at Wootton and the 2 we dropped at home vs BPW.
I remain a glass is half full kind of guy, but the truth is its out of our hands now.
We must continue to win and keep the pressure on and hope the others crack !! Yeovil did, Hartlepool did, sadly in both of those cases the competition elsewhere had a bit more about them and there was always the chance of them dropping points.
If we win all our remaining games then our lads would have done all we can ask of them - if we don't go up after that then I'll be amongst the first to congratulate the 2 sides who finish 1st and 2nd, because they will both have deserved it !!

Re: Buckingham v Sileby
I went along tonight, and Sileby looked a bit like we did on Tuesday. They were gifted their first goal when the Robins keeper dropped the ball at Cassidy's feet, although Foster's excellent strike just before the break sealed the game, so he Byrne and Blackwood could be taken off in the second half. All is not well with Byrne though - he gave OTT abuse to Foster after a misplaced pass, and then when subbed he trooped around the pitch to the dressing room immediately without a backwards glance and how his teammates were getting on without him.
Had Buckingham scored when the hit the bar and had the follow-up headed off the line the scoreline would have been similar to Tuesday too.

I don't see much wrong with the Wootton draw, it was early in the season and we were really unlucky. It's the BPW result that still bugs me, because were weren't very good that day, against a side that are crap. Like you said, if we win all of our games then the team have done everything they can and deserve credit whatever happens. Whatever the outcome of the season, if you collect 90+ points you've done really well. I just really hope that if we don't go up it's Oadby and Eynesbury, rather than Sileby.Pigman wrote:I live in hope, but I fear you're right. Re: Buckingham v Sileby
I've posted something similar before but i'll post it again. We entered the season with a team that probably wasn't good enough. If our current first choice starting XI had taken the field that day we'd have won, same as against Burton, same as against Bugbrooke. We'd be top of the league and cruising. Comparing the starting line-up against Wootton to what has become probably our first choice XI:
Wootton:
..........................Shorunmu...........................
O'Grady........McDonald........Hope...............Allcock
Merrill...........Dent............Cox...........Wisniewski
..................Taylor...............Ellwood................
First choice starting XI March 2013:
.........................Shorunmu.............................
Gillingwater.......Deakin.........Parkinson.........Brown
Wisniewski........Harris/McBride/King...........,Gearing
.................Taylor................Newman................
Hopey and Merrill are obviously still involved and Dent's been unlucky with injuries but other than that only 3 remain. A much, much stronger side. Fair play to MS for pinpointing the weaknesses and addressing them.

Re: Buckingham v Sileby
Exactly, and in any other league we would be top and cruising. As already discussed whoever won the league last year (Huntington?) lost six games!
We're just unlucky to have Botterill Mercenaries FC and Leicester City reject XI fighting against us!

Yeah we could have a total of 94 points at the end of the season and still not go up if I'm not mistaken, which would be seriously unlucky, reminds me of 2 years ago when King's Lynn got 103 points in the Prem and still didn't go up because unfortunately for them St. Neots were even better.Sara Pascoe wrote:I don't see much wrong with the Wootton draw, it was early in the season and we were really unlucky.
