I was looking at the FA site to see what the prize fund for winning this Saturday's match and it appears to be £600.
However, I also came across a thread on the Darlo's forum and there's an interesting post from a supporter of Ashington who reckons they made a significant loss, after prize money, from our match with them last December.
The gate money is split after all expenses, in this case that would include our team coach and overnight accommodation, it is often the case in the matches that involve such long journeys for clubs to make nothing out of it.
Yes I'm fully aware of that, but to end up winning the fixture and the actually losing £500 after receiving prize money is significant for a club at our level is the point being made.
Perhaps the FA ought to increase the prize money for the FA Vase bearing in mind the distance that clubs have to travel at a fairly early stage in this competition? I sure that the FA could afford to do it.

Totally agree the prize money in the vase is poor compared to the FA cup, but like you say no team should make a loss after prize money, what would it of been like for them if they had lost.
Perhaps we should of stayed in a Travel lodge rather than the Savoy :lol:

How could our Club have made a loss? Our hotel bills and coach travel for players and officials was recompensed before a 50/50 spilt on the gate receipts. It was Ashington who ended up being out of pocket even taking into account the amount they were awarded from the Prize Fund for winning the fixture. It would be correct to say we didn't make any money.
I bet in the following round which they lost when they played at Bodmin it was the host club that ended up making a net loss.
You know, if you read the rules of the FA Vase carefully, paying special attention to things like maximum charges for accommodation and the cap on mileage expenses, then it's pretty easy to get a clear picture of the situation. Using the Ashington game as an example, you know the mileage, you can have a good guess at what the gate receipts were, you can have a good guess at the referee's expenses......
I'm not trying to call the Ashington chap a liar, but perhaps he doesn't have all the facts to hand. Including the prize money and not forgetting how much they would have made on the bar and food, I would be absolutely gobsmacked if they had made a loss.
