Possible FA Cup Opponents
OK, during the Vase run last year, I and others tried work out possible opponents in each round based on the region we might be placed in. Our away tie at Ashington blew all of my predictions out of the water, so take what is below with a pinch of salt!
I find it unlikely that we will meet an teams from West Midland areas, which leaves East Midlands, East and South of us. The draw is likely to combine regions at this stage, so although I have split the regional options below, we (and others) may be split into differing regional group combinations. However, I do not expect a fully North/South draw. Therefore, I'd be surprised if our opponent in the next round wasn't listed below (he says confidently!).
I have added info regarding Step and rough league position (top end, middle, bottom end) for each team. Hope this is of interest to some.
If we are in a more NORTHERLY region:
Atherstone Town (Step 6)
Daventry Town (Top Step 4)
Rugby Town (Top Step 4)
Carlton Town (Top Step 4)
Halesowen Town (unlikely) (Top Step 4)
Mickleover Sports (Top Step 4) OR Corby Town (Step 3)
Solihull Moors (Top Step 2) OR Leamington (Bottom Step 2)
Stourbridge (unlikely) (Top Step 3)
If we are in a more SOUTHERLY region:
Arlesey Town (Step 3)
Barton Rovers (Top Step 4) or Boreham Wood (Botom Step 2)
Biggleswade Town (Bottom Step 3)
Brackley Town (Top Step 2) OR Gresley (Step 4)
Hampton & Richmond Borough (Bottom Step 3)
Hemel Hempsdtead (Top Step 3) OR Witham Town (Top Step 4)
Oxford City (unlikely) (Bottom Step 2)
If we are in a more EASTERLY region (I think most likely):
Canvey Island (Step 3) OR St. Neots Town (Step 3)
Concord Rangers (Step 2)
FC Clacton (Step 5) OR North Greenford (Step 4)
Histon (Step 2)
Needham Market (Top Step 4)
AFC Hornchurch (Top Step 3)
Sittingbourne (Step 4)
AFC Sudbury (Step 4)
Boston United (Top Step 2)
Stamford AFC (Bottom Step 3)
We'll how if I got it completely wrong and we get drawn away at Didcot or Trafford...
Atherstone Town at home would seem to be the best draw? But they too have been giant killers this season.

After yesterday i'd fancy our chances against anybody at home, even if it was too give our a opponents a decent game. From that list, away trips at St. Neots, Corby or Brackley would be interesting

That's an interesting list and respect to Atherstone the only Step 6 club remaining from those listed who beat Coalville yesterday. Interesting there is only us and FC Clacton who are from Step 5.
However, I fancy us against either Corby, Stamford or St. Neots at the the Dog and Duck of course. Neither of those three will relish the visit.

Re: Possible FA Cup Opponents
It would be an interesting clash if FC Clacton win their replay, as they have a striker Aaron Condon who has scored 8 goals in the cup this season, and he'd be pitted against Russ and Alfie who have seven. I'm not sure the sort of goal tally the overall top scorer gets in the FA Cup on a average season, but those three must be in with a chance of that award.Trek wrote:That's an interesting list and respect to Atherstone the only Step 6 club remaining from those listed who beat Coalville yesterday. Trek..... I have replied to your comments about FC Clacton on the match thread by mistake.
Clacton are not the only step 5 club left in FA Cup there are 5 def through and 4 in replays.

My comments relate to the options listed by Everyweeker. Would be nice to avoid Histon, Concord Rangers or Boston United.sussexdiamond wrote:

Re: Possible FA Cup Opponents
Everweeker you have been a busy boy.
I don't think we will play to the north with possible exceptions of Daventry, or Rugby.
to the south I agree with you plus St Albans, Bishops Stortford, Boreham Wood and pos North Greenford.
to the east you can now add Grays, plus Witham and Heybridge Swifts
To the west pos Brackley or Oxford City
Sittingbourne is in Kent so I don't think we will get them.
between us I guess we have covered everybody!!
my final punt is it will be another trip to the London area.....St Albans.

Re: Possible FA Cup Opponents
Bishops Stortford, who won 5-0 this afternoon, are another team to avoid in the draw. One of their players, Kyle Vassell scored a hat-trick in 7 minutes and ended the match with 4 goals so puts himself in prime position for the Player of the Round.
