NLP National Game Awards

Post by D14MNDS »

Categories for this are:

Player of the Year
Young Player of the Year
Manager of the Year
Team of the Year
Goalkeeper of the Year
Goal of the Year
Golden Boot
Community club of the year

Given our success this season, i think RDFC could perform strongly in several of the categories.
Who would you give the awards to?

Justin is a definite for manager of the year, and Rushden for team of the year imo.

We must be the most under-rated team in the league, and I think what we've achieved is largely going unappreciated. Because of this I don't think we'll win anything.

However, JE deserves the manager of the year award without a doubt. Mark Byrne should maybe be in with a shout for young player of the year, too.

When do the votes take place? If it is after the play offs and IF we make it to Wembley or the unthinkable happens, this could be an even bigger reason why we could win a lot of awards. You are right though, it would take a victorious trip down Wembley way to make the rest of the league appreciate us.

Imho, Tomlin should win the first two easily, JE the third, us or possibly Lootun the fourth, and Dale the fifth. From what people are saying, Az's goal yesterday could win goal of the season, but i'm sure there are some other good goals out there, many of which have been scored by Tommo tbf!

Don't know about him winning them easily, those sorts of awards can tend to go to goalscorers but I do think he'll be in the running for them. We'll almost certainly have a player or two in the team of the year, I'm thinking maybe Downer or Tommo could be in it. And as for manager of the year, if we do get promoted I would have thought it would be between JE and Westley if Stevenage do go up as champions, we all know who it should be between those two but we'd have to see who get's it.

Half of Tommo's goals should be on the shortlist for GOTS but I think his goal against Kiddy was the best, it wouldn't have looked out of place in the premier league's goal of the season award, world class.

Tommo must be a contender, as he's been mentioned favourably in both the NLP and on the BBC Non-league show, but I can't see JE getting the award ahead of Westley if they clinch the title - after all, they haven't had a huge budget either.

Regarding the team of the season, I think Roberts, Robinson, Downer, Stuart, Terry, Byrne and Tomlin will be contenders, but we may only get a couple of them into the side.
