Fair play to Jarvis for apologising, his interview was great, on to Tuesday.rickthediamond wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 5:52 pmMaybe because the majority of the players didn’t even have the respect to come and clap the fans at the end and just stormed straight off the pitch? We may not be there in our thousands, but just because we aren’t pampered premier league fans does not mean we are not worthy of simple respect.RyanDoveFanClub wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 5:14 pm However, it is disheartening to see fans slating the team and being aggressively negative. Have we forgotten what Harriman has done for this club?
I myself was going to bite my tongue about the performance and stay positive, but after seeing the players leave without giving two craps about us fans who spend our hard earned money to support them home and away, they can absolutely have it. We were absolutely GOD AWFUL, completely reminiscent of last season and we would not have scored a goal if we had been there for another 6 hours.
I have massive faith in Harriman and I know it will come good, but I am also massively disappointed in some of our players today.

After such a positive start and the heroics against Corby, today was such a disappointment, while the result wasn't as bad as the last time we played them, the performance certainly was probably just as bad, sure Newark were up for it and clearly enjoyed being the underdogs, but the whole team really let themselves down out there and deservedly lost. We can go on about the ref all we want (he was awful), but ultimately we didn't look like scoring all match and against a step 5 side, that is a real concern, is that 4 games in a row against step 5 sides in the cup that we've lost?
Just hope this can be a kick up the bum for Harriman and the team, the spirit and togetherness we saw against Corby and Lye can't just have been a fluke, hopefully we can put in a good showing on Tuesday.

We should be cautious in bounding around figures here that aren’t overly accurate, especially when we know how closely we need to manage the budget this year.StaceyH wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 5:59 pmI reckon the club has earned around £6k, maybe more, over the 3 games taking into account the shared gates and prize money. That’s significantly more than the last few seasons so it’s not all bad.Pigman wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 5:54 pm Well, the “road to Wembley” turns into a cul-de-sac for us yet again, that illusive cup run eh? Gutted, not just because it’s the cup, but for the loss of much needed funds! But, we are where we are!
The Corby game was of course relatively lucrative compared to any other teams we may have been drawn against in the Ex-Prelim match, but it is of course an additional round that we wouldn’t have accounted for being in when budget was written, so the shared costs gained from this were also liable to an additional weeks salaries being paid.
The attendance was around 220 today, which is split after match costs, so not a particularly profitable day, and the prize money for exiting at this stage is negligible.
With regards to the game itself, my frustrations are more that we’ve let a winnable and potentially lucrative passage into the next round pass us by with a whimper and didn’t give anywhere near a good enough account of ourselves.
I will echo RyanDoveFan poi though that now is not the time to be tearing into the squad. Two weeks ago they were being championed for making it through the round, this evening they are villains and not good enough.
Let’s keep things balanced, stay behind them, and trust that they are more aware than anyone that today wasn’t good enough and a far better account of themselves is required on Tuesday evening
