Re: Crawley/Tomlin
I think there's a high chance we wouldn't know what the figure was anyway, 'undisclosed fee' is a well used phrase.

Re: Crawley/Tomlin
Thanks to the radio we can get the information from Cousins (should he be willing) at the next fans forum if he does go. We can ask if it was more or less than the figure touted by his agent.
The thing that has to be considered is that add on clauses from Crawley has a much lower potential value than those from, say, league 1 clubs.
Hopefully this will get all parties interested in bidding on Tomlin to start submitting bids before it's too late. Crawley's money might end what could have been a game of brinksmanship from interested parties.

I'd also insist on Crawley paying as much up front as possible if a bid was made that was acceptable. Wouldn't trust them not to go into liquidation before paying off what they owe.

Re: Crawley/Tomlin
250k and we should snap their hands off, might give the club a bit of financial stability and allow JE to further strengthen the squad.
I know that might seem unpopular, but there isn't a lot of money splashing around in footie anymore so shouldn't we take advantage of it?
But as some people have already said hopefully this will kick start a bidding war. If he goes, we want him to go now, so JE has time to look for a replacement.

EDIT: forgot to add that KC has the best interests of the club at heart so we should trust any decision he takes. We won't be forced into accepting any offer.

Re: Crawley/Tomlin
Tbh, we want to milk Crawley for all they're worth if they are indeed after him. I would guess if this has indeed happened and the figure quoted is an INITIAL offer, the club are well within their rights to reject it since it suggests that Crawley have money to burn and thus would be prepared to up their offer. As such we would be fools not to keep pushing them until they put a final offer on the table.UttoDiamond wrote:250k and we should snap their hands off, might give the club a bit of financial stability and allow JE to further strengthen the squad.

In addition, your last bit makes sense, but I would argue delaying such a transfer would help far more. If we went for players having received a record bid for another, I would expect the parent club to up their asking price. Keeping this talk in limbo, minimises this happening atm.

Let's face it, that's what other clubs did to us when we had Max. I'd say accept anything over £200k with a good sell-on clause. We have Jamie Day who could slot into the left-side role in front of Robbo.Mad Dog wrote:

Yes, but this time the cheque book is not unlimited. Plus a great deal of it would be invested into the club. As I say, if it was an initial offer and they are coming back, then they have yet to hit the limit they are prepared to pay.Two of Diamonds wrote:Let's face it, that's what other clubs did to us when we had Max. A sell on clause is only good in this instance if Crawley don't collapse as a result of this spending. Look at Jacko a Gillingham, apparently they're prepared to run down his contract rather than sell him. If Crawley went to the wall ala Chester or Weymouth, we'd get nothing.

Re: Crawley/Tomlin
The word is we're paying all transfer fees up front anyway. Salisbury have already had their £75k for Tubbs. It's a Far East investor who is pumping this money in, and the deal is it's all up front meaning that our only ongoing liability is in wages (not that they're not a spicy too) but there's certainly no excess on fees.Mad Dog wrote:I'd also insist on Crawley paying as much up front as possible if a bid was made that was acceptable. Re: Crawley/Tomlin
JE confirms a rejected bid in today's ET. Also says Tommo "wanted it to be rejected" and will be offered a new contract.

Haha get in Tommo!
I was just thinking to myself before i read that, apparently Celtic and 15 championship clubs were after him last season, he would surely be distraught if he ended up going to crawley.
I am surprised about thenew contract business though, i thought he wanted to move on asap.
