It says we're going to offer, not that he wants one.

From the clubs point of view, if the offer was so big, I'd be happy to accept it. Tomlin really isn't that brilliant, he had a good 3 months, and we've seen he goes missing far too often! If the offer is anywhere near 250k, I'd definitely accept it if I was chairman. 250K by itself, can fund at least 5 quality players being brought in, I'd rather that than one top quality player!

If I was Tomlin, he may see it as a step backwards, but if they are buying all these players, its obvious they will up there, and he will be playing with great players. The fact there's Middle Eastern Investors means the club will get publicity and because they are signing the best non-League players, League Teams will be scouting there more than us!

From Cousins point-of-view, if he's losing all this money, surely he'd accept it. As fans, we would be being extremely harsh if we criticised him accepting this offer. He has all but saved us, without him, we wouldn't have a club, and if he's pumped in the money he's said he has, which I'm sure he has, he really should be looking to balance it a bit. Suppose he has faith in the land developments!

There is no question that losing Tomlin, would definitely affect our credentials. He is without doubt, our key attacking player, but with say even 50% of the fee being re-invested in the squad, I believe we could make up for this.

If we do reject a great bid, it shows fantastic ambition, that Keith doesn't want a short-term fix, but a long-term Football League stay, something that will allow us to move back in the right direction!

I think our talks with Tomlin about a new contract might just a ploy to get Crawley(or other interested teams) to put forwards a bigger big as soon as possible.

That's not how I saw it last season - I think we'd have struggled to make the playoffs without Tomlin.

He did underperform for a while when he played on with an injury in the Spring, but even then his presence in the side made the opposition defence focus on him, giving the other strikers more space. There are few players in the bottom divisions of the Football League with his touch - remember the goals at Hayes and at home to Kidderminster.

I don't think we'd get 5 quality players for that money - especially the sort of players who can find the back of the net. Apart from perhaps Brodie I'm not sure there is a non-league player who would be a good replacement - and I don't think decent league players would step down in the way that Duane Darby did 10 seasons ago.

We need the sort of special players we had in the Conference winning season if we are to win it again - and, alongside Jamie Stuart, Lee Tomlin is the nearest to one of them.

Agreed 100%, I can't believe some of the negativity towards Tommo after such a vast improvement in every aspect of his game last season. There is still room for improvement, of course, but there is not another player at this level who can match him in terms of ability.

That said, I would accept a £250k bid from any club, although I would be physically sick if he ended up joining that scum Evans at that most abhorrent of football clubs (second only to the Ploppies). I genuinely don't think we will do as well next season as we did last, and reaching the play offs again would be an even bigger acheivement than it was the first time IMO (hopefully JE and the lads will surprise me again :D ). Because of that, I don't see us keeping Tomlin as being the difference between getting promotion or not, and £250k now could go a long way to securing the immediate future of the football club, which I'm sure is the most important thing to all supporters.

Rumour is that Crawley have had a bid accepted for Sergio Torres at Peterborough, maybe to take the place of Tommo ?

Says in NLP that crawley have made a £200k bid now for tomlin, does'nt say that we have accepted it or turned it down. But paul driver said he knows nothing of the bid and expects tomlin to start the season in a rushden shirt.

Crawley are just becoming like a Mini-Chelsea/Man City.... I really hope they crash and burn.

Hopefully they'll learn a harsh lesson, that money doesn't automatically bring you success, we know all about that.

Well it did for us, just that we couldn't sustain a club at the higher level without the money.
