I know you will be there. I was aiming my rant at those that live 5 minutes away and still can't be bothered to give an hour or two yet are the first to sing along with "Rushden til I die". Hypocrites

Emailed this out to my volunteers list just now:

I've received an email from someone who was at the Dog and Duck earlier today telling me that the digging out of the grass along the dug-out side of the pitch is due to start tomorrow in preparation for the concrete to be laid, so it may be a tad muddy down that side, possibly too muddy to paint over there, so we may need to delay painting that side until they have finished and laid the concrete. We still have the other areas of the railing to paint so to anyone going over there please stick to these areas for now.

I've not been able to get over there today, but I've been told that the club house is now finished, the last bit of blue gloss painting was done last night. Well done to everyone who has helped out with this, its been a big job, but we've done it !! :D

Due to other commitments I probably won't be able to get over there until Saturday now to check where we are with things (people have been down there today I understand so I'm not sure how far they have got with the painting of the railing) but I'll email an update over the weekend about the work that remains to be done.

For now, all I'm aware needs to be done is the white railing and obviously the blue on Dale's Bar, the ladies doing that would appreciate the help. We will need to paint the turnstiles (but need the roof needs recovering first) and the other portacabin (once the doors have been hung) but I'll advise of that when we're ready.

Thanks for your continued support.

We're getting there everyone, we apprecaite the help everyone has given thus far.

We are still looking for volunteers to help out on a matchday, so please email chas@afcdiamonds.com if you can give a bit of time before, during or after matches - we'll find a job to suit anyone I promise :D

I think it will be OK to paint the turnstiles Jim, as it doesn't interfere with the roof being done.
There was talk of if there is enough blue Gloss left, we could paint the main gates?

I'll have a look tomorrow and let you know 8-)

Sounds good to me - I just want to make sure we have enough blue to finish Dale's Bar and the main portakabin before I start on the gates, out of all the jobs they are the lowest priority.

Dales Bar is nearly finished and there is a fresh tin of blue in the office, would make sense to make the entrance look good???? 8-)

Will be down late tonight 8-)

Fair enough, providing we have enough paint, I agree about doing what we can to improve the look of the place.

I can't tonight I'm afraid, I'm working until about 9.30pm tonight and visiting my poorly mum in Bucks tomorrow evening

I think I might get down there early on Saturday morning for a couple of hours to catch up with where we are and do a bit of the painting that is still left to do. I think the doors will be hung on the portakabin on Friday (fingers crossed) so they will need undercoating and a lick of gloss fairly quickly to weather proof them.

Just been down to pick my season ticket up and i'm really impressed with the progress thats been made at the ground, the pitch was being seeded and the edges strimmed again tonight and the club house and dales bar look fantastic. I work mainly evenings so have struggled to make it down since helping out Jubilee weekend but its coming along really nicely and seeing it made me even more excited for the coming season!!! :)

I've only just got in from a long day at work - glad to hear you're impressed with the work going on DD, its been down to a lot of hard work by a very dedicated little crew of people who deserve a lot of credit and praise for giving up their valuable time.
