Re: Shocking
I also think this thread and management bashing is OTT. I thought we pretty much bossed the first half and created loads of chances, which we failed to turn into goals. Poor, poor finishing by Jake yesterday, and loads of other players who just flashed wildly at the ball instead of trying to hit the target. Second half was very disappointing, after the second and third goals we just folded like a pack of cards. By the fourth & fifth goals Oadby were just taking the p!ss, playing it around on the edge of our box with little to no problem. I hope our players are hurting, and have the character to put this right.
There are players who now need to show us more, starting on Tuesday. It's clear the two top teams are where they are on merit. We must build, if not for promotion this season then for next.
{edit} We got taken apart by John Stevenson, who looked a class above any other on the pitch, and if that atendance was only 512 I'm a dutchman

I've said it before and I'll say it again, we have no divine right to win every game.
I'm sure Starms and the lads will take stock, and we'll see a much improved performance against R&H on Tuesday.

Re: Shocking
Don't think it's as much that we lost, more the fact of the manner in the way we lost. Most people thought we would go to oadby and give them a close run as we're both near the top. 5-1 is a hammering and and it's looks sileby, oadby and eyenesbury would have to have some unlikely slip ups for us to be back in the title racediamondgeezer1 wrote:Not turning on the club here!! Re: Shocking
So as it stands we are 3rd, with Sileby top on 40, then Oadby on 35, then us on 30. We have a game in hand over Sileby (so do Oadby) and we have to play Sileby twice and Oadby at the Dog and Duck. Gaining promotion is still realistic, but we cannot afford to drop silly points!!
Our upcoming fixtures are, R&H, ON Chenecks, Raunds, Potton then Silbey at home. I think we will win all games before playing Silbey (12 points) then we will welcome Silbey to the D+D full of confidence and i think we'll nick it. That will give us the maximum 15/15 points from 5 games and we'll be right back in there. As previously mentioned, Oadby have tough games coming up, so momentum is vitally important at this time of the season.
I still think we have the quality within the squad, we just need to put out the strongest team possible for each game (including merrill and wiz)
Looking forward to R&H!!

Re: Shocking
Looking at it today and I am hoping to have the video up tonight for you all to see, I compare yesterday to the harrowby game and we scored first and then got a second in the second half and killed the game with the 3rd
Harrowby I believe beat Oadby
We just have to learn to take our chances and starms said as much yesterday

Re: Shocking
Firstly i felt at Eynsbury we were dire all game. Yesterday we could have easily gone in at half time 2 or 3 up and Oadby could not have complained, but second half we just collapsed. i believe at home we will have every chance of beating them
Then to join with Duncan here, come and see the youth team tomorrow night, the boys have been playing some really good football all season and then come along and Tuesday and see the first team neat R and H

Can't beleive how well harrowby have picked up, they looked like the whipping boys at the start of the season now their level on points with us. Quite glad we don't have to face them again!bozzer wrote:Looking at it today and I am hoping to have the video up tonight for you all to see, I compare yesterday to the harrowby game and we scored first and then got a second in the second half and killed the game with the 3rd

Re: Shocking
I'm really confused here. On Tuesday we only had 15 "first team" players available, so had to put a youth team player on the bench. Deven and Jack W were out injured, Joe and Elliot were away on holiday, Gilly was suspended, and others have other commitments which mean they haven't been available. You talk about the merits of the players we had at the start of the season - yet the last two players of the match and players of the month have been Jake Newman and Séan McBride, neither of whom started the season with us.elvisgirl wrote:I was at the match today, yes it was dreadful, our players think they will turn up for a match and win with no effort. I think at the beginning of the season we attracted local players whose hearts were in the right place,. They wanted to play for AFC Rushden & Diamonds, unfortunately we are now signing players who come here because of the opportunity of playing in front of large crowds and have no real feeling for the club. I admit the club must move on, Lance Allen was terrible today his attitude was that he has no feeling for the club and we have many players who will give all for the club in the position that Lance occupies for the Diamonds, we have many alternatives, Wiz,Dent, Ellwood and best of all Ben Morgan. Ben was a loyal substitute for the early part of the season, he did not walk away from the club because he was not in the starting eleven. I preferred many of our early season players who gave all. Please give them another chance, I think they will succeed, yes we need another goalkeeper, given time our team at the start of the season would have been successful these players had a place for AFC in their hearts. The only good signing we have made since the start of the season is Jake Newman, I do not think we should sign players for the sake of it, many of these players are poorer than the players we already have. Yes they perform over one or two matches and on this forum you sing their praises and forget the players who have slipped down the pecking order.
Re: Shocking
Sean McBride did start our first game against Thrapston. Nevertheless, he has been ever present, sometimes going unnoticed by the fans for his commitment and consistency every game.
It will be a tough season, the people think we have a divine right to get promoted this year, are wrong in my opinion, we have to work for it like every other team.
I think the management team have done VERY well so far this season, as have the players, two losses and two draws is a very good record.

Re: Shocking
I think Formic is making the point that Sean hadn't joined the club in time to play in the majority of pre-season matches. In fact his first match was at Lutterworth Athletic and his performance was such that I seriously doubted whether I would see him again in a Diamonds shirt.
I'm am pleased to have been prooved wrong. ;)
