He isn't is he?

Stuart
He's not, but a lack of match fitness has prevented him returning to first team action!

I hope we haven't done this to be honest. Maybe I'm being a bit too cautious but I don't think we even need to throw any cash about to get into the play-offs at this stage, we're currently in them and comfortably at that. Surely if we beat AFCW and K*ttering (both very doable) then even the most pessimistic of fans will have to admit we'd be in the play-offs barring a massive collapse?
R.I.P Dale. We will never forget you.

People seem to be forgetting we've only beaten one of the teams in the top half of the table on their home ground this season, so to expect us to pick up more than three points in the next two games is being very optimistic.

Edit: I'm glad to admit I was wrong there !

Shane Huke played in a reserve match for Eastbourne Borough v Leyton Orient on Tuesday and scored.
They were "bitterly disappointed when he could not agree a move before yesterdays deadline".

They quote him as a midfielder.Nothing about Oz.

On the OS it says he's from Oz. Listening to JE, he says he can also play anywhere along the back four as well as in midfield. Sounds like a good signing on paper if the case.

I agree that the side we have is probably good enough, but tbh we all know we could do with a little bit of cover, esp at the back, and if Huke provides that, then imo it is a good signing. The last thing i would want is us to miss out because we get a couple of unfortunate injuries!

From the Mariners website.

Shane Huke

Born in Reading in England’s south but raised in Australia, Huke was most recently with Football League 2 challengers Dagenham & Redbridge, who were the seventh English club that Huke represented throughout the course of an extensive stint in England’s tough lower tiers. Prior to returning to the country of his birth in 2003, Huke played three seasons with the Rochedale Rovers in the Brisbane Premier League – a club not far from his family home in the Queensland capital, which is Huke’s link to Australia and also the place where his family reside. Huke was a fringe member of Australia’s 2005 FIFA Under-20 World Cup squad and, although he failed to register an appearance in green and gold, he remains eligible for recognition by Australian national teams having arrived at the Mariners for their maiden AFC Champions League tilt with ambitions for consistent top-flight football, which could potentially lead to future international call-ups.
