Conference AGM tomorrow
Conference AGM tomorrow
I hope the Conference Board are truly independent....
I have just spoken to a very down and disappointed KC. He has spent today (and the past few weeks) trying to find some potential investors to dig us out of the hole those mupptes Bee-zant have got us into.
I understand that there is still a very real possibility that new investors (not the Hoddle mob) will buy the Club and rescue us - but it looks like they need another couple of days to get all the funds together.
KC and his business partner today approached the Conf Board and provided an undertaking that they will put up several hundred thousand pounds pending a takeover. According to KC the Conf Board pretty much dismised this offer and were anything but sympathetic.
I wonder why? It cannot have anything to do with the fact that the Vice Chair of the Conf Board happens to be the Chairman of Southport? And if we are expelled or wound-up, guess which team will be reprieved - er, Southport. And guess where the Conf Board have been today - playing golf at the Celtic Manor. And we all know what sort of tapping up could happen on a golf course, don't we?
I do hope the Conf Board see sense and at least allow us a stay of execution for a few more days - if there are no investors then we will fold anyway.
Failing that I hope other Clubs in a dire financial situations are treated in the same manor - Wrexham? Cambridge?
One thing I am sure of is that KC and his business partner have worked tirelessly over the last few weeks to try and find a sustainable future for the Club. No blame can be laid at their door should we go pop - and no, I have no connection or allegiance to KC.
Keep you fingers crossed for tomorrow and let's hope the Conf Board see sense.

But this is the Conference, they make the rules up as they go along and seem to be answerable to absolutely no-one !!

RIP Dale Roberts - gone, but never forgotten!!

To be fair though, the brinkmanship they have been facing in this and several other situations makes it difficult to do other than apply the rules they have made very clear in print this time.PigmanRDFC wrote:But this is the Conference, they make the rules up as they go along and seem to be answerable to absolutely no-one !!

Re: Conference AGM tomorrow
KC said at the fans forum that he had been seeking legal advice about the conflict of interest.
Thanks for the update Reality. I wonder if these investors would be prepared to buy the club if it were demoted, at least that way we still have a club.

This seems plain wrong, surely there is little/no independence and neutrality from the people who will be deciding our future!Reality wrote: the Vice Chair of the Conf Board happens to be the Chairman of Southport? Re: Conference AGM tomorrow
They haven't got a great track record for acting in a sensible way though have they. I guess I'm just bitter that we've got to this situation. The trouble is, none of us know the full story so don't know for sure who deserves the blame for getting us into this mess - although I guess appointing blame is a pointless exercise in truth, it won't help us will !! Everything crossed here that something can be done overnight, but I'm really clutching at straws here.Formic wrote:To be fair though, the brinkmanship they have been facing in this and several other situations makes it difficult to do other than apply the rules they have made very clear in print this time.PigmanRDFC wrote:But this is the Conference, they make the rules up as they go along and seem to be answerable to absolutely no-one !!

Re: Conference AGM tomorrow
That conflict of interest is horrendous, sums up football thesedays though.
Re: Conference AGM tomorrow
To clarify the whole 68 clubs of the Conference have the vote to decide our future so to pin a charge of conflict of interest based on 1 man out of 68 would be very hard.
Of course there is no rules against gaining support to Southports cause on the golf course yesterday.
It will depend on who is in our corner this weekend and what guarantee they could give to swing any vote in our favour.
